Connections, Forever Families and Little Dog Lost

There really is something special about the connections we make through our pets. For me the friends and connections made through placing puppies in their forever homes are really important. I take every one of them very seriously as I know these pups will be, if everything goes as it should, with their new families for 10-15 years. So when I hear from my FF's (forever families) I'm always delighted to see pix, hear stories and confirm that I did right by the puppy and their new fam. Last week I got cards and e-mails from several FF's and as a result I'm working on a slide show of "what they look like now" photos. It's always fun to hear the stories, see the pix and hear from you guys. I have to send a special thanks to Ann in Deleware for the photos of Huckleberry Phineaus who is truly a gorgeous boy if I must say so myself ;-) Also thanks to Ann for sending me a copy of the Disney DVD Little Dog Lost. Can you believe I had never seen this movie? How cool to receive it !! Thanks so much to Ann for thinking of me and knowing Kenzie would love it too.

An Empty Nest and New Friends

Parker just left for his new home in Dover, OK and that leaves me with an "empty nest" for the first time in several months! Hmmm no puppies is bad but .......no puppy clean-up chores for a while is good ;-)

It's nice to know that all my campers have found their new forever homes with folks who will give them love and great homes. Some moved along earlier in the fall and others just in time for the holidays. Regardless I know they'll all bring joy, laughs and warmth to their new families. Each puppy and their new family brings to mind a story about how that puppy will fill a special place in the heart of their new family ..... a friend and running buddy, a companion for the wife of a deployed soldier, a new corgi to fill the shoes of one beloved and departed, the first puppy for several little boys, a college room-mate traveling from home to a new school. All my pups had special roles to fill and lots of love to share.

Happy Holidays

While I titled this post Happy Holidays, of course that encompases Merry Christmas first and foremost. In addition, the phrase Happy Holidays also includes all the other good stuff that falls between Thanksgiving and New Years Day for me. This year has included a bunch of good and fun stuff so far. Lots of good cooking, family time, a trip to Hungary, cattle shows, a good report for our bulls on test, shopping, decorating, classic Christmas movies, music, Christmas lights and our annual outing to see the Tulsa Ballet Theater's version of the Nutcracker (aka "Crackerjack" in Kenzie-speak).

First things first though - here are photos of Parker who is the only puppy I have available at this time. I've received lots of e-mails and calls lately asking if I have puppies available. In catching up on e-mails today I've let several of you know that Parker is ready to join his new family. He is a delight with a lovely disposition, calm personality and is beautiful in conformation and coloring. If you are interested in visiting with me about him please call me as I am not checking e-mail frequently while I am baking, cooking and generally on a carbohydrate enriched holiday from Atkins. Lord only knows how many carbs I will consume since the menu for the next few days includes ......chex mix, truffles, cinnamon rolls, spaetzen, superfudge cake ....... you get the point. So calling me will be the best way to ensure you get my attention.

Fun in Stillwater

We had fun at the AGR Winter Bonanza Cattle Show last weekend in Stillwater and enjoyed seeing friends and a fanatastic line-up of showcattle. I took Hoss and Dustin to the show where they connected with Santa aka Dylan who was helping these pups make their way to their new people. It was particularly nice that Dustin will become Kelton's first corgi since Kelton's family are the folks from whom I got my first corgi (George). As we were delivering pups at the show Kenzie got tired of walking and had a little mini-meltdown insisting that she had to ride with the puppies in the cart. In the photo below you see the result which gave us all a good laugh.
