I took photos of the puppies tonight for ads on Next Day Pets. Getting good photos of the wiggly little kids is like catching lightning in a jar !! Here's a cute one of Ginger's Kids.
They grow so fast I have to take new photos every 4 or 5 days as each day at this stage brings so much change, both mentally and physically. These guys are learning from everything they see, becoming more social and independent. The campers are weaned now and eating puppy food.
We start our babies on free choice Purina Pro Plan or Purina One Dry Puppy food. As they grow we change this to offer a set amount based on weight. These are both high quality puppy foods which offer excellent nutrition and growth without empty fillers (which cause lots of output to clean up) or excess growth/weight gain. While I am on the subject of nutrition, I’ll tell you a little about diets for the Moms too. As pregnancy progresses we elevate the nutritional plane for our females. Our dogs are on Purina rations supplemented by frozen Bil-Jac throughout the year. During the time the Moms are nursing we monitor calories and calcium carefully to ensure adequate nutritional input to keep up with the litter size and demand. As the puppies begin eating on their own and Mom starts to moderate their nursing, we adjust everyone’s diets accordingly. The goal is to have both Mom and puppies optimally fed as conditions change.
