No they aren't jailbirds in the top photo but to hear them tell the story they are! These little "poopers" as we affectionately refer to them, would LOVE to have the run of my house 24-7 but as you can imagine that's not a great idea at this point. As puppies typically are, they are into everything and are still prone to accidents so they divide their time between their playpen, the back porch/deck and the garage. My answer to controlling their escapades while still providing them with fun stuff to do and changes of scenery a couple of times each day involves a complex series of baby gates and portable puppy fences coupled with a change of location/activity schedule that would rival any cruise ship's recreation schedule!! As you see above we have sunbathing in the afternoon and indoor time when it's rainy or dark outside.
The indoor photo is the view from kitchen into the garage - I was cooking dinner at the time this was taken. 5 minutes later I gave in to the whining and pleading (from both puppies & Kenzie) and opened the gate and let them in. That, of course, meant I finished cooking dinner while wading through puppies and having my feet chewed, pant legs tugged upon and every nook and crany of the kitchen explored. The funniest thing was when the puppies went into the floor level cubby next to the kitchen sink and discovered a cat behind my basket of aluminium foil/plastic bags etc. I laughed till I cried on that one. The cat and the puppies were all so suprised they nearly fell down!
